One of our focus is to educate women to know their human rights and avoid taking laws into their hands. Women in Nigeria have had various challenges to get equal rights in the society, most especially in the office, marital homes and so on, most times their effort ended fruitless while some took laws into their hands by killing or maiming their tormentors and they end up in jail, serving jail term or life imprisonment. Women’s rights are the fundamental human rights the Nigeria constitution and United Nations enshrined that for every human being on the planet.
Therefore, do not be ignorant of your human rights, get in touch with or become a member in SWS today for more knowledge on human rights education for women. These rights include the right to live free from sexual violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage. Issues commonly associated with notions of women’s rights include the above points and to hold public office; to enter legal contracts; to have equal rights in family law; to work; to fair wages or equal pay; to have reproductive rights.
Stand up for Women Society (SWS) support women to escape violence or overcome discrimination. These include counselling or legal aid, training or business start up schemes, providing support for the less privilege to understand their human rights and get it for the development of their lives.
